Youth Leadership & Development Programs

The Earth Village vision is to deliver youth leadership and development programs with a focus on Brain Education training.

What have we doing in the youth space?

In 2021, Earth Village sponsored the Rangatahi Development Award at the TaiTokerau Maori Business Awards. This category was for young entrants aged between 18-24 years.

In March of this year, we had the privilege of working with the Te Hiringa Charitable Trust, Te Puni Kokiri and Mahuru which is the Youth Justice Division of Ngapuhi Iwi Social Services to deliver an 8-Day Youth Leadership Program to 10 Māori youth from the Mid-North. The focus of collaboration with the Te Hiringa Charitable Trust was about joining two cultural practices of Te Ao Māori and the ancient mind and brain techniques of Asia. This union presented a unique point of difference to support and lift the wellbeing of rangatahi (youth), essentially achieved by addressing the fundamental pillars of wellbeing: physical, mental, social, and cultural. On the graduation ceremony day the rangtahi delivered a performance that was an integration of Brain Education training and Kapa Haka. This performance was amazing and was a celebration of acquiring the ancient learnings through cultural collaboration and the enhancement of spiritual, physical and emotional energy.

What are our future plans?

We have a strong desire to work with government agencies, schools, community groups and not-for-profit organisations to deliver more programs. We have been working with a local Maori school and look forward to their students visiting Earth Village in the very near future.
